It is time for the 2nd annual Art Inspired by Mineral King show and sale.

Save That Wood!

Renovating your Mineral King or Silver City cabin, or your old foothills home this summer? The Mineral King Preservation Society and Three Rivers Historical Society need old beams and boards and U26 Simpson Hangers for their historical reconstruction of the old Bahwell Saloon that marked the beginning (or end) of the 1800s Mineral King wagon road.

West Mineral King Water System On

Breaking News! Yesterday (June 15) I heard from a cabin resident that the West Mineral King water system has been flushed and charged, and is now on and running. Good news!

However, I don't believe the Cold Springs campground is open yet.  Confirm by calling Park headquarters at Ash Mountain or the Mineral King Ranger Station.

The snow is melting fast, the river is high, the road is open and clear to the end (but watch for potholes), and the summer season is on!

Events at Silver City This Weekend

Join us this Saturday, June 15 at 6:00 p.m. at the Silver City Resort for an evening of music with Mankin Creek.

Then on Sunday, June 16, there is a pie-eating contest at the Resort--and we all know how delicious those Silver City pies are!  Entry fee is $10.  Reserve your spot now by calling (559) 561-3223.

Garbage Bin News

The 10 yard rolloff garbage bin is scheduled to be delivered next Wednesday, June 12, assuming the snow drift melts out enough. Michael Botkin will make the determination when he goes up Monday or Tuesday. In the meantime, the 2 yard dumpster is there with the combination lock, same combination as the gates. Use it until the rolloff shows up. 

Same rules as last year. SECURELY BAG ALL GARBAGE!

Farewell Gap, 6/3/19

Susan Merrill sent me this photo she took last Monday (6/3/19) of Farewell Gap. So much snow still left! 

She wrote, " Monday morning we went to MK and the road is open all the way and we did see a lot of snow on the sides of the road. MK might not be totally available until the 4th of July weekend. The Ranger station is open tho she hadn't given out any permits yet, too much snow."

Mineral King Road Now Open!

According to staff at the Silver City Resort, both gates on the Mineral King Road are open, the road is drive-able to the end, and the Ranger Station is open for visitors.

However, Cold Springs campground and the West Mineral King water system is not yet open because access to the tank is blocked by snow.  Estimated date to open is June 21. Any updated information will be passed along when received.
