Tulare County Fire Department remains actively engaged in the protection of the many small communities that are currently being affected by both the #KNPComplex and the #WindyFire. We have received many phone calls and messages pertaining to a variety of concerns by citizens regarding communities and firefighters. TCFD has had a Task Force (which includes 5 various types of fire equipment and a Task Force Leader) that has been working with additional equipment assigned by the Fire Operations to the area of Mineral King and Silver City which are located in an Evacuation Order area. These crews are supported by the incident base camp and are supplied daily with food and water.
Please know the fire has not reached this area at this time, but for several days firefighters have spent time clearing vegetation away from the cabins. Dozer lines continue to be constructed to protect these areas. In addition TCFD is prepared to apply a fire protecting gel to residences that my become threaten by the fire, along with potential use of the Aluminum blankets that have been used to protect the Giant Sequoias.

Just heard back from 2021.knp@firenet.gov in response to my email to them. Even though it's kind of "GovernmentSpeak," at least they know we're concerned.
ReplyDelete"Our Incident Management Team has included protection of private properties as one of our highest priorities. There are numerous resources assigned to protect that area and there is an on-going assessment of the needs for that area."
