I will keep today's update short, since there is not anything "news worthy" to report, which is good.

I woke this morning and checked the latest fire spread, and was relieved to see minimal spread on our section of the fire. After the seeing the increase in fire activity yesterday, I was concerned that we would wake to worse news. There is some discrepancy between the satellite infrared vs the aircraft flyover infrared. I have attached a picture of the aircraft flyover which I believe to be more accurate. Basically, the aircraft flyover shows far less growth as compared to the satellite imagery.

I have heard that cal fire is getting close to completing the dozer line on the west side of the fire. I hope this will allow equipment to start working on the containment line along milk ranch. This is important as it will give fire crews a strong point to "anchor" to so they can start a containment line our direction.

At this time, they do not have a planned containment line for our end of the fire. I would imagine the fallback plan is to use the MK road to try to hold the fire to the north. Iffy at best.

They do continue to have a couple hand crews and small Type 6 engines assigned to the SC/MK area to prepare the structures.

All we can do is continue to hope for good weather and the fire to continue to creep until they get equipment in place. I strongly hope they will keep the fire out of the East Fork Drainage that leads to our communities. I did some calculations to see what would happen if fire was to get in the East Fork, and the results were not good.

I think it is important as well as responsible to ask the fire officials the following questions: What is the containment plan along the MK Road corridor and how are they implementing that plan?

What is the plan to successfully prepare and defend the structures in our communities?

If you cannot get an answer, contact your elected officials and have them advocate for you. Unfortunately, the clock is ticking and the time to act is now.
